LAKE NAKOMA'S SELF-TITLED DEBUT ALBUM OUT TODAY ON SINGLE LOCK RECORDS
SINGER-SONGWRITER COLIN WOLTMANN AND ALABAMA SHAKES' HEATH FOGG SHARE A GRIPPING PORTRAIT OF SELF-DISCOVERY,
Lake Nakoma have unveiled their self-titled debut album today via Single Lock Records, a moving nine-track rumination on positive change, personal growth and the people that help us get by. Creating a sonic world that's blissfully sun-kissed and mysteriously sublime at once, Lake Nakoma's debut is defined by the effortless musical chemistry of its founders: singer-songwriter Colin Woltmann and Alabama Shakes guitarist Heath Fogg. Originally meeting for a one-off collaboration, the two Athens, AL musicians quickly realized a potent and natural connection between Woltmann's vocals and Fogg's guitar playing - officially forming Lake Nakoma to build on that spark alongside members of their tight-knit musical community. Listen to the results on "The Edge" from the new album here:
Colin Woltmann on "The Edge": " To me, this song is about feeling stuck at the precipice of change and fighting the exhaustion that's urging you to give up. When we were playing with the track sequence it felt right to have this song in the middle of the record to signify a major turning point."
Heath Fogg on Lake Nakoma's debut album: "Lake Nakoma is an album about things lost and found and the tension that builds in the realm between those two moments. At the same time, it is a record full of love songs. It's a thank you letter to those who throw us a tow chain and pull us out of the mire when we are lost in the woods."

Only fitting on an album that celebrates the power of community, Lake Nakoma are joined for this debut by many of the finest musicians their home state has to offer. This list includes Fogg's Alabama Shakes bandmate Zac Cockrell on bass, drummer Derrek Phillips (Alison Krauss, Hank Williams Jr., Dr. John) and keyboardist/engineer Ben Tanner (Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, Nicole Atkins). In advance of the album's release, the band had previously shared "New Skin," a breezy and triumphant reflection on the power of overcoming, and the dreamlike "Burying Old Bones," named to Brooklyn Vegan's Best Songs Out Now list upon its release. The upcoming album will also mark the latest celebration of Muscle Shoals-based indie Single Lock Records' tenth anniversary, where the 2022 GRAMMY and A2IM Libera winners have been highlighting the rich music landscape of their home state.
