LAKE NAKOMA'S BREEZY RIFFS FUEL BLISTERING ODE TO TRANSFORMATION ON "NEW SKIN"
SINGER-SONGWRITER COLIN WOLTMANN AND ALABAMA SHAKES' HEATH FOGG TEAM UP FOR LAKE NAKOMA'S SELF-TITLED DEBUT ALBUM OUT MAY 9 ON SINGLE LOCK RECORDS
Lake Nakoma have returned today with "New Skin," the second offering from their self-titled debut album out May 9 via GRAMMY-winning Southern indie Single Lock Records. Delivered through an inviting and laid-back fuzz, "New Skin" celebrates fresh beginnings while working to purge the toxicity of self-doubt. The song is capped with a triumphant final chorus, as vocalist Colin Woltmann reflects on the power of overcoming: “I hope you like the place you’re in, shedded that weaker skin, found a new way to begin again." Helping bolster the profound moment of self-acceptance is Lake Nakoma's Heath Fogg, whose instantly-gripping guitar hooks recall his work as a founding member of Alabama Shakes. On "New Skin," Fogg and Woltmann are joined by Fogg's Alabama Shakes bandmate Zac Cockrell on bass and by drummer Derrek Phillips (Alison Krauss, Hank Williams Jr., Dr. John). The song was recorded by fellow Alabama music staple Ben Tanner, who has also worked with Fogg and Cockrell on Alabama Shakes projects as well as with Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit.Listen to "New Skin" here and pre-save the debut full-length album (out May 9 on Single Lock Records) here: https://link.singlelock.

Initially teaming to work on Woltmann's solo material, the pair quickly realized how well-suited they were for collaboration - finding an almost-uncanny symmetry between Fogg's guitar arrangements and Woltmann's vocal delivery. The results have already been met with early praise, including an inclusion on Brooklyn Vegan's Best Songs Out Now list for the ethereal and dreamlike lead single "Burying Old Bones." The upcoming album will also mark the latest celebration of Single Lock Records' tenth anniversary, which has found the Muscle Shoals-originated indie highlighting the rich music scene of its home state.Lake Nakoma - S/T Tracklist
